One of the first steps of a successful Epic implementation is establishing guiding principles that will be used in all decision making throughout the project. These should always be kept top of mind and referenced in all meetings related to Epic implementation. Patient First
Prioritize the needs of women and infants. Make decisions that support patient safety efforts and promote transparency with patients.
Provider Friendly
Strengthen provider efficiency and satisfaction. Support partnerships and enhance interoperability.
Foundation Focused
Be open to new processes and improved workflows. Follow best practices and stick to Epic’s Foundation System when at all possible. Minimize data silos and optimize legacy data flows.
Organizational Engagement
Provide frequent updates to all staff and end users. Keep all stakeholders informed, engaged and excited throughout the project.
Progress Over Perfection
Don’t allow the pursuit of perfection to stand in the way of progress. Make decisions and confidently move forward.
