What is the Epic Foundation System?
Epic Foundation System is the template used to build an organization’s Epic product, featuring best practices and recommended workflows. This is a term you will hear often throughout the course of the project as we make decisions on our system build.
What does this mean? We are not the first hospital to implement Epic. In fact, more than 300 million patients worldwide have a current electronic record in Epic. By standing on the shoulders of those who have gone before us, we are benefiting from lessons learned along the way and implementing workflows that have proven successful over time. While this may mean making changes to our current workflows, it’s important that we are open to new processes that can streamline current workflows and improve efficiency in our care delivery.
